Let’s carry on with my Bon Jovi week… Today the Jersey boys are sharing with a few fellow artists and for Fashion Tuesday we are talking rock concert outfits.
So what do you wear? It depends, really! Is it going to be inside or open air? Are you going to stand or does your ticket include a seat? Here are a few examples of concerts Sexy Hubby and I attended together over the past few years…
ROCK OZ FESTIVAL – AVENCHES – SWITZERLAND – JULY 2008
A company I was working with had invited us and we were especially delighted as one of my best friends was performing that night. You can read about the evening in my Rock Oz post. It was open air but with a welcoming covered area where we could eat and drink. It was a pretty informal event so jeans were fine.
ZZ TOP – ZITADELLE – MAINZ – JUNE 2009
A classic case of came in one T-Shirt, bought a souvenir T-Shirt and ended up wearing souvenir T-Shirt on top on original one! It was supposed to be raining that night, hence the layers wrapped a bit all around me but the sun came out instead. Much appreciated!
SCORPIONS – O2 ARENA – BERLIN – MAY 2010
This was indoors and a VIP package, a lovely birthday present from Sexy Hubby. In my own words from the post written three years ago:
“Glasses of Prosecco were poured and we turned into rock fans, black leather trousers and T-shirt for Sexy Hubby, black Vegas Royalty bling-bling top and snakeskin patterned trousers for me as well as our fantastic Affliction leather jackets we bought last year in Las Vegas. I went as far as adding a glittered nail varnish on top of my Chanel Vendetta on my toes…”
Need I say more?
ROCK THE NATION FESTIVAL – LORELEY – JUNE 2011
All attempts at glamour were quickly discarded… It was COLD. And it was WET. Yes, it is a blanket you see behind me, sitting on the ferry. And I was really glad for its presence when I wrapped myself in it later on that night! The olive heavy-duty rain jackets bought as an emergency the second day were also especially flattering… But we had a fabulous time!
BON JOVI – MAIMARKTGELÄNDE – MANNHEIM – JULY 2011
Love that “rock chick” outfit. The weather was uncertain but I decided to be optimistic. And I was right! It was a lovely, warm evening and another fabulous Bon Jovi experience. Sexy Hubby had decided against wearing the leather trousers that I love given the temperature and went casual instead. Still looked gorgeous, of course. And here is our second case of souvenir T-Shirt being worn on site. Minus the hat, which I removed to allow a better view to the fans behind me!
BON JOVI – RHEINENERGIESTADION – KÖLN – JUNE 2013
Third case of souvenir T-Shirt but this time I removed the original one! And yes, I know, the way I am posing you definitely can tell that I am not a model or a celebrity… I had my heart set on that Esprit denim skirt but had to wear tights too as our heat wave had ended two days previously… Sexy Hubby was back in leather trousers, hurray!
There is however one item that I now always wear to a concert: The gorgeous Tony Mora cowgirl boots Sexy Hubby bought me as a present. The weather can be hot or cold my feet remain comfortable and you can really WALK in them, which came in handy last Saturday in Cologne… We got to the Heumarkt tram station and of course just missed ours. There was a huge demonstration going on in Heumarkt Square against the Turkish regime and a lot of policemen around. Then we noticed that said policemen were stopping people from standing on a specific part of the opposite platform. Finally we spotted the abandoned rucksack there and that is when they closed down the station… We had to walk quite a bit to the next station and I was grateful for my comfy boots. I was getting a bit nervous about getting to the stadium though but all went well, and as far as we know there was no trouble with the demonstration either.
Tomorrow I will tell you all about Sofia… But for now it is your turn: What do you wear to a rock concert?
