Time For A Change

Regular followers of my blog may have noticed that this year, the publishing of posts has slowed down… The reason is that I have the feeling that Funky Wellies Random Thoughts in its current form has come to an end.

I have been blogging for over seven years, mainly sharing my travel, fashion, music and home experiences. I have enjoyed it thoroughly, but the motivation to write about the same subjects is becoming harder to find. I am still pondering about what exactly is to come next. Right now, I am jotting down ideas and a new picture is slowly starting to emerge. I feel excited again as I am about to revamp a space that had become too familiar.

There is no date yet set for a relaunch, which will involve a new design too. But when I return, I really hope that you, my dear readers, will still be around.

Introducing My New Website | Of Lens And Pen

I am very excited. That is one big box ticked on my “new projects” list, which you can find in my It Has Been A Long Time post.

Of Lens And Pen, my brand new website dedicated to photography and writing, is now live. It is still a work in progress, but I am pretty proud of it.

I would love to hear what you think. 🙂

It Has Been A Long Time

When I wrote my post about the KISS concert in Hamburg last June, I knew that I was about to go on a “blogging pause”. However, I never imagined that the said pause would last seven months!

So what happened? We sold our flat, bought an old house and renovated it. It sounds pretty straightforward, but it became my full time job for the next five months and then I needed a bit of time to recover from the stress of renovating and moving… I will tell more about the actual work – so many stories I could easily write another book! – but for now, let’s just say I am really glad my “worksite boss” job is over and that I can resume with my various projects.

First of all, I am sending Foundation, my first novel and the opening book of The Crossing Lives Trilogy, to the next batch of literary agents for consideration. I never did hear back from the one who requested the full manuscript last year and received only rejections from other agents. I still remain positive and hope that this new year will bring good news!

I am also impatient to begin with Book Two – Resilience. The opening scene has been playing in my mind for a little while now and I cannot wait to get writing.

The next project is setting up a new website dedicated more specifically to my photography and my writing. I have the name, the layout and lots of photos waiting to be published, now I just have to find a minute to actually do it…

Finally, the end of January should see the start of a great new freelance opportunity. I am quite excited but would rather wait until everything is confirmed before saying more about it.

As for Funky Wellies Random Thoughts, I will still keep it going, but with a couple of posts a week only, as the other projects now take priority.

It is nice to be back, though, and I will leave you with a few photos taken on walks with Cute Doggy. I am sure you can see why I fell in love with the area we now live in…
PS: responding to comments takes a lot of time, and not many readers come back to look at the replies… I will therefore stop replying from now on, but will catch up with you on social media to thank you, as you taking the time to comment means a lot to me! 🙂

The Longest Day |
OXO Tower Cocktails

On the longest day, I was in London attending the BritMums Live 2014 conference. Not too many opportunities to enjoy the glorious sunshine that day, but the garden set up in the courtyard of the Brewery, with its comfortable sofas and fake grass, was perfect to chill out for a little while.

I had flown on Thursday already to meet a friend and spend some time together before the event (more to come about this). In the evening, I met her and we decided to head for the OXO Tower. Getting off at Embankment, we very much enjoyed our stroll along the Thames before arriving at the bar. We were lucky enough to get the last table, as this had been a spur of the moment decision and we had not booked anything. I had been there before but still appreciated the fabulous views as much. Inside, people-watching is always interesting. I thought we both looked pretty glamorous until a party of four arrived, from Ascot presumably. Stunning outfits and hats for the ladies.

Champagne-based “Brief Encounter” cocktails were our choice and the nibbles we had were so delicious we ordered some more. A truly lovely evening spent catching up in a beautiful place, the notes emanating from the piano adding a touch of nostalgia.
