I joined One Community, a monthly photo blogging project, for the first time in November. I really enjoyed it and I can see One Community becoming a permanent feature on Funky Wellies Random Thoughts!

The words for December are: Needle, Chair, Pillow and Speech. If you want to join in, just post one or more photos for each of the theme and add your blogpost here. The linky begins on December 5th and stays open for 5 days.

Self-Made Halloween Dress - Needle - Sewing
If you have read this post, then you know that I am hopeless at sewing.
Two years on, Second Daughter has become pretty good with needlework.
I am therefore showing you a detail of the Halloween dress
she made for herself out of an old T-Shirt Sexy Hubby donated to her.
I think it looks rather cool.

Ducking Stool Christchurch - Hampshire - Chair
I took this photo while visiting a friend in the UK.
It is a replica of a Ducking Stool in Christchurch (Hampshire),
set in the exact placewhere the original once stood in medieval times.
It was used as punishment or to extract “confessions”,
mainly from women accused of various “crimes”, including witchcraft.

Room Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas - Pillow
This was our hotel room at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.
As you can see, no shortage of big and soft pillows there…

Fresco on door - Speech
You are probably wondering what this photo has to do with speech…
Look on the left side.
Can you see these two characters engrossed in their conversation?
I would love to know what they are saying to each other!

  1. I’m so glad you participated again this month, Katia. My post will (hopefully) be going up tomorrow.

I absolutely love hotel beds … the white linen, the fluffy pillows, the fact that I don’t have to make the bed or launder the linen …

    1. Thank you for introducing me to that project, very much looking forward to reading your post.
And I am with you regarding hotel beds! ๐Ÿ˜‰ xx

  2. That dunking chair breaks my heart. I’m certain that if I lived before, I would have been dunked! God bless all the women who kept fighting for equality!

  3. Fabulous photos for the themes. Way too many pillows on that bed for me. I don’t think the people in the painting are having a friendly conversation. The old lady seems to wagging a finger at the young man?

    1. Thank you, Lesley!
You can never have too many pillows… ๐Ÿ˜‰
Love how you interpreted the conversation… What I had in mind was a secret, romantic encounter! xx

    1. Then join in! ๐Ÿ™‚ Would love to see your photos.
Thank you, Needle was not that easy given my (lack of) skills… ๐Ÿ˜‰ xx

  4. What a super collection of photographs and so much to think about, especially seeing the ducking stool.
I can just feel the thread content of that bed linen!!!

    1. Thanks, Trish. You can feel all the stories just looking at that ducking stool, I think…
As for the bed, yes, heavenly! ๐Ÿ˜‰ xx

  5. fabulous pictures Katia, your daughter really is a very arty young lady, with her drawing, sewing and cake making, she has such talent.

I too would love to eavesdrop on the couple in picture and as for those pillows, I don’t think I’d have left the bed ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

    1. Thank you, Nichola. ๐Ÿ™‚
No idea where the sewing skills are coming from… ๐Ÿ˜‰
Found this painting very intriguing… As for the pillows, it was hard to get up, lucky that Las Vegas is an exciting place! xx
