Back after my digital break. A couple of times a year, I feel the need to switch off completely and find that the summer holidays and the festive season are perfect times for doing so.

2013 ended in a particularly hectic way and both my body and soul were craving rest and contemplation. A lovely family Christmas in Switzerland, a relaxed trip to Cologne with Sexy Hubby and chilling out at home with the computer not getting a look in provided just that. A long meditation and an extended back stretching session happened more or less every day, but so did catching up on series and films. I read solely in German, but also slept like in my teenage years. I did a lot of thinking, but a fair amount of indulgent eating too. And I found that this was just the right combination in the current circumstances.
Happy New Year headband
No New Year resolutions or firm plan have been written down, but I do know what I want to pursue this year and what will be left behind. My experience is that forcing things to happen simply does not work, so I will just explore the many possible avenues and see where they lead me.

The dawning of a new year is similar to a blank canvas waiting to be painted. I am quite excited about what the final picture will look like come December again.

    1. Thank you, and happy New Year to you too! 🙂
I prefer a general sense of direction to resolutions… xx

  1. And hello Katia, welcome back! It sounds like you’ve had the most fabulous break. Jealous of those lie-ins especially! I’m with you on not making resolutions but know what needs to be done this year. Great attitude to have, here’s to 2014 being brilliant! Thank you for sharing with #whatsthestory.

ps. My German is limited to “is that chocolate or is that a tomato” although I’m sure I can remember how to ask for a beer 🙂

    1. Thanks, Charly, it was a simple but fabulous break. I usually wake up – by myself – quite early at the weekend too, but not this time! 2014 is starting well for me, hopefully for you too. 🙂
      Love your German skills! xx

By the way, it is lovely having a break. I popped in after Christmas for one post but other than that it was good to not feel any pressure to blog.
