The Saltern Of Saint Martin’s Island – Gruissan |
Le Salin de L’Ile Saint Martin – Gruissan

During our recent holiday in Gruissan we visited the Saltern of Saint Martin’s Island. I published a first photo in my Douceur de Vivre In France post with the promise to tell more about this picturesque place.

The first impression when we arrived was of a burst of colours. A gorgeous painting made of an incredibly blue sky and the deep pink of the salt marshes, peppered with the browns, greys and greens of the landscape; simply amazing. We then took in how vast the saltern is, stretching over 400 hectares, La Clape and its vineyards overlooking it. Saint Martin’s Island is a good example of sustainable development: Dating back to Antiquity, the salt marsh technique used has turned this spot into the perfect home to several bird species and plants.

We also found out that the light “flower of salt” appears on the salt plains once the wind stops blowing at dawn and is carefully collected in the summer.

Guided tours are available and to learn more there is also an eco-museum. In the summer various activities such as concerts and story telling are being organised, as well as exhibitions. The boutique sells regional products, not only salt-related but also for example wine and a selection for the sweet tooth. I am very much enjoying the different bath salts I bought and we use our Gruissan salt every day in the kitchen. As our visit took place in the middle of the afternoon we did not try La Cambuse du Saunier restaurant. The menu is composed of different types of oysters and local fish and meat dishes. There is always next time…

I am looking for a sponsor willing to cover my ticket, travel expenses and two-night hotel stay. In return, I can offer the following:

• A blog post introducing your brand as my BritMums Live! 2014 sponsor (being trilingual, the post could be in any combination of English, French and German should this be of interest)
• A mention and thank you in all the posts I am going to write about the event
• A mention in all my updates about the conference on social media networks
• A linked company logo or advert on the sidebar of my blog for a year
• Links to the posts written about the event on the relevant page on my blog
• A second post later in the year about a product, event, etc. your brand would like to promote
• Supporting your brand on social media networks through sharing, re-tweets, etc. during the whole of 2014

I am of course happy to discuss other ways of working together, such as wearing an outfit from your brand during the conference or partial sponsorship. The posts recounting the event will also be added to the Official BritMums Live! I was there linky on their website and get even more exposure that way.

Interested? My Get in Touch page is waiting for you… 😉

Piz Palü Hats

Last December Sexy Hubby and I spent a couple of days in Cologne again, as we love this vibrant city. It was a gorgeous sunny afternoon and the Christmas market was in full swing. We had a browse and came across a stall selling the funkiest winter hats I have ever seen! Sexy Hubby was adamant that I should buy one but he did not need to insist much… The inside of the hat is 100% cotton and therefore very pleasant to wear, not scratchy at all. The outer material is a mix, 80% wool and 20% polyacrylic. I have been out wearing it on a very cold, windy day and still stayed warm.

What do you think? Do you like my Piz Palü hat?

Was meint Ihr? Findet Ihr meine Piz Palü Mütze auch toll?

DORMERO Hotel Brandenburger Hof Berlin

During my visit to the Berlin Fashion Week I had the great pleasure to spend two nights at the wonderful DORMERO Hotel Brandenburger Hof. Nestled in a quiet side street, this five star hotel nonetheless finds itself a short walk away from Kurfürstendamm, the well-known, bustling shopping boulevard.

As I already mentioned during the FACES 4 FASHION radio show, the moment you step in you feel yourself relaxing. The opulent but not overwhelming decor and the genuine welcome from the staff are a perfect combination. There is also a delightful Japanese Garden in the courtyard, which I would love to see in the summer. The amazing breakfast is being served in an airy, open area encircling the garden but there are more intimate spaces too should you prefer. It was also a nice surprise that the headwaiter spoke to me in French.

The hotel offers 58 rooms and 14 suites. I stayed in a large, high-ceilinged bedroom on the
second floor, which had sitting and working areas and a lovely bathroom with a separate toilet. Classical music was playing and fruit, biscuits and chocolates were prettily laid out. I was also delighted to discover a selection of L’OCCITANE toiletries, as I love their products. When I
returned at night, the bed has been turned down and a bottle of Evian water was waiting by its side. It is indeed the little details that count…

My next scheduled trip to Berlin will be at the beginning of June for the Aerosmith concert. Would I like to stay at the DORMERO Hotel Brandenburger Hof again? Absolutely!

DORMERO Hotel Brandenburger Hof Berlin ⎮ Breakfast
