Cake Love

In our family we like to bake. On occasions like birthdays or celebrations, of course, but also “just because”. It is so lovely to come back from puppy class or from a walk, having been out sometimes in the rain and the wind, and enjoy a warming cup of tea together with a slice – or two! – of a cake freshly baked that morning.

My two daughters have already outgrown me. As you can see below, they specialise in theme cakes and we always marvel at their creative skills. Take the last one, for example: Dragon eggs in a chest, inspired by the Game of Thrones series (this one was made for my sister, who is a fan). It took the girls ten hours to make it… First Daughter had the idea and bought all that was needed on her own. Then they did everything themselves, from the fondant to the numerous decorations.

Do you agree that impressive does not even begin to describe it?

Thank you, they do put a lot of effort into them.
As for Cute Doggy, I am CERTAIN he will get a cake looking like him on his birthday… which we will end up eating! 😉 xx

I do not know about your baking skills but I was indeed impressed with your napkin folding abilities!!
Thank you, I think they are too, and they have much more patience than me for the decorating part… 😉 xx

I’m so impressed with your daughters’ skills. Cake making/decorating is NOT my forte. In fact, I’m making a red velvet layer cake for my step-daughter’s cheerleader dinner tonight and I’m so nervous I can barely get started.

I really love the dinosaur cake especially. Darling!
