At Peace – Flickering Candles

I took this photo in a cathedral not far from where we live. I love candles, I find them mesmerizing, and with such an impressive number of them the effect is just magical.

I do feel at peace in a church, the hushed atmosphere, the fabulous energy created by all these prayers, I like to sit down on one of the benches and stop for a moment, taking a break from the whirlwind of modern life.

And of course, I always take the time to light a candle too.

I agree with you about the peace a church gives and that display of candles is magnificent,is it all carved out of wood? Looks a real work of art

Yes, it is all carved out of wood. Every time I go there I marvel at how beautiful it looks!

I am not a religious person but do enjoy visiting churches – there is such a sense of calmness when I go through the doors – that combined with candles – a great sense of peace! Lovely.
