An afternoon in our favourite forest. As I sat down by a majestic tree, Second Daughter scuttled off to indulge into one of the activities she most loves: Explore. She always comes back with interesting finds, or is lucky enough to glimpse a magical scene such as a fawn waiting for its mother to come back. This time, she came across that little makeshift hut:
She ran back quickly to get me and I followed her deeper into the heart of the woods. Who built it? Children playing? Or someone who actually used it for a night in the outdoors? We will never know, but had fun imagining different scenarii.
My daughters and I have been lucky enough to get lots of adventures around the world, and hopefully we will have plenty more. But sometimes you really do not need to go far to have an adventure.
You will find more adventurous stories here: Sticky Fingers.

Thats a very adventurous looking hut. I really hope we can give little boys adventures around the world too!
Fingers crossed for world adventures!
Found the hut as fascinating as my daughter did…
Mine love building dens too.
That is so much fun!
Looks like a gruffalo cave to me…
I had not thought of that one!
That’s lovely! How very true as well, many of the best adventures are often in your own “back garden” at that age!
Exactly! I often marvel at my daughter’s imagination. Mind you, I was like that too at her age…
Oooo looks interesting. I wonder what it was used for. You are very right about adventures being not too far away!
I wish we knew! Curious if we will find one again in the spring.
Fascinating! The ranger in the woods near us has constructed little boma’s out of fallen branches. She says they are shelter for the deer x.
Wondering if the hut was used for that purpose too now! xx
Love a good old fashioned game of ‘pretend’ – that looks like a good spot for a go!
This forest is fabulous for pretending! We often go there and always have a wonderful time.
It looks very inviting and exciting
Our sentiment entirely!
Fabulous! Love what my daughters find and ‘see’ with their imaginations too.
I love to join her into her imagining world too…
Very true, sometimes the best adventures are on your doorstep! x
If you are ready to use your imagination, certainly!
xx
It’s too ramshackle for fairies, so it must have been the gnomes.
This was one of the possibilities Second Daughter and I came up with!
My sentiments exactly – you can have an adventure in your own garden if you use your imagination. Just as well really because we aren’t going very far from home this year!
I wish you a lot of fun with your domestic adventures, then!
A forest is definitely a good place for an adventure, can’t wait to explore like this when mine are a little older
Hope you will have as many wonderful moments as we do!
Ooh that looks really interesting, would love to know the story behind it…
Me too, and cannot wait for spring to see if we will find more huts!
Ha! That looks fun – the stuff of childhood (and adulthood) !!!!
Fun it is… and you are right, at any age!!
We love wood walks, and love coming across dens like this. Brilliant.
It really is magical, I agree. We always get excited when coming across something unusual.
